Women Walking Wild

Women Walking Wild was a project led by Under Open Sky Ltd in Great Yarmouth. During the Spring, Summer and Autumn in 2022, eco-therapist Beth Stephens and community artist Genevieve Rudd co-led walks with women from Feathers Futures.

The aim of the project was to nurture nature-connection, understand more about the local environment, explore sustainable creative arts approaches, and create a space for shared positive social experiences. Women Walking Wild added a new offering to the Feathers Futures programme, complimenting the Sole Sisters walking group and their range of programmes supporting women in Great Yarmouth

Together, the group took up space in the environment, exploring the beach, parks, streets and cemetery around Great Yarmouth. This was not just a project to learn about the natural environment, but to deeper connect with inner landscapes too, and find peace between the outer and inner worlds

To close the project in Autumn 2022, curator JMC Anderson worked with the group to co-curate a Women Walking Wild exhibition at PRIMEYARC, a communal creative space and gallery led by local arts charity originalprojects.

The project has been funded by National Lottery Community Fund
